Primary Purpose: To coordinate, implement, and oversee aspects of the district's English as a Second Language (ESOL) program, ensuring the identification, appropriate instructional support, and required accommodations for English learners, while maintaining compliance with all state and federal regulations.  

 

Position Details: 

  • Opening available for the 2026-2027 school year
  • 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM daily
  • Full or Part Time employment will be considered

Qualifications:

  • ESOL License/Endorsement (PK-12): Demonstrated expertise in developing, implementing, and assessing Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) for English learners, while providing instructional support to ensure student success in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Kansas Teaching License: A minimum of 3 years of successful experience in classroom teaching and working with English learners.
  • Health and inoculation certificate on file in the Central Office (after employment offer is made).
  • Desire to continue career improvement.

Essential Functions & General Responsibilities: 

  • Facilitate the personal, social and intellectual development of Students
  • Establish a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of students.
  • Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with members of the school district and community.
  • Work effectively with community organizations.
  • React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
  • Support the value of an education.
  • Support the philosophy and mission of U.S.D. No. 413.
  • Identify and screen potential English learners using Home Language Surveys, and notify parents of the results.
  • Create, evaluate, and update Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) in collaboration with teachers who support English learners.
  • Communicate with and assist teachers in implementing appropriate accommodations for English learners.
  • Oversee and hold regular meetings with ESOL aides to discuss services and the needs of English learners.
  • Provide services to students qualifying for ESOL services.
  • Manage translation services for students and families.
  • Provide professional development regarding ESOL and English learners.
  • Coordinate and assist with yearly KELPA testing and all other required district assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal requirements, and assist in documentation required by KSDE for funding and program monitoring.ff. (Re:  Negotiated Agreement)
  • Manage the collection and timely submission of required documentation to state regulatory agencies.
  • Oversee the logistics of standardized testing windows, including the scheduling and assignment of specialized instructional staff for assessments (such as KELPA).
  • Oversee and facilitate communication by organizing and leading meetings with ESOL aides.
  • Provide guidance, instructional support, and assistance to educators.
  • Serve as a liaison between the district and the community by identifying and connecting non-English-speaking families to vital external resources.
  • Maintain expertise in the field by staying current on innovative pedagogical techniques and emerging trends.
  • Any additional duties and special projects as directed by the superintendent and assistant superintendent.            
  • Adhere to all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
  • Other duties as assigned by the superintendent and assistant superintendent.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
  • Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
  • Occasional stooping, bending, and reaching.
  • Requires some travel.
  • Must work indoors and outdoors year-round.
  • Must work in noisy and crowded environments.
